BIOGRAPHY

The servant of God Pedro Herrero Rubio was born in Alicante (Spain) on April 29, 1904. Only son of Peter and Emilia. It was an exceptional physician, he studied with brilliant skills and refine them in Paris and Brussels. He actively participated in the transformation of Pediatrics. Patrocinio Javaloy Lizón married, remained with her until death flawless fidelity. By not having children loved harder to neighbor. Nocturnal Worshipper ejemplarísimo was constant. He made the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist the center of their life. His life was austere, prayer, Holy Mass and Communion daily inflamed his soul. In the exercise of their profession, attracted to the faith the furthest, getting plenty of children to receive baptism. He was appointed Chairman of the Branch Diocesan Men's Catholic Action and worked for the founding of Cottolengo, to serve the poor and sick left behind.
P. Fontova collaborated with the creation of The Boys Town, financial assistance and making available all his medical knowledge. Peacefully gave his soul to God on November 5, 1978.

Prestige Medical


He studied at the only promotion that brought together four world-renowned professors: Cajal, Negrin, Marañón and Castroviejo. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery on March 25, 1927 and later in child-care. Colabroró effectively in the transformation of Pediatrics. He perfected his studies in Paris and Brussels. He was President of the College of Physicians of Alicante over three decades. The Medical Council of Spain dedicated a tribute and sign his name on the Honor Roll. He worked in the Provincial Benefit and Maternity. He was director for 33 years Mother And Son, which catered to dockworkers and their families at a time when there was no Social Security. Gets the title of City Health Inspector, was child-care at the National School of Childcare. Gets the certificates of improvement in the Children's Clinic of the Faculty of Paris, Expansion of Obstetrics and Gynecology Study. Red Cross doctor, especially children. Medical journals published in various important works, highlighting the contribution to the study of Kala-Azar children. In Alicante, posthumously, is distinguished as the Honors College. During the course of their work was appreciated by all his medical colleagues.



Testimonials, graces and favors received


 It publishes a newsletter since 1984 with testimonials from people who knew him in life and graces obtained through her intercession. Numerous donations received agradenciendo mediation. Two biographies have been published that are depleted. The third edition will be released soon, with new evidence, graces and favors.
In the area where was the Mother and Child Clinic (he was its director for 33 years) and tended to the port workers and their families, is a monolith with his bust in front of the Pier Medical Pedro Herrero. A College Street and bear his name.



Canonization Process


Pedro Herrero calmly gave his soul to God on November 5, 1978. In the Mass of "corporate unburied," the bishop of the Diocese, who presided over the ceremony, seeing the popular clamor and moved within said opening the process for his canonization. Began to receive countless testimonials, graces and favors obtained through her intercession. In 1984 he began making public Sheets edited everything received. Promoting commission was formed, being president D. Luis carving. In 1994 he was appointed Postulator D. Ildefonso Cases.
 The opening of this process took place in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas on June 30, 1997 and the official closing ceremony on 9 June of the following year, taking all the documents in Rome on June 16 of that year. On July 2, 2003, the Vice-Postulator D. Ildefonso Cases presented to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, another "alleged" miracle properly studied by the medical team of Alicante.

BIOGRAFÍA

El siervo de Dios Pedro Herrero Rubio, nació en Alicante (España) el día 29 de abril de 1904. Hijo único de Pedro y Emilia. Fue un médico excepcional, cursando sus estudios con brillantes calificaciones, y perfeccionándolos en París y Bruselas. Participó activamente en la transformación de la Pediatría. Casado con Patrocinio Javaloy Lizón, mantuvo con ella hasta la muerte una fidelidad intachable. Al no haber tenido hijos amó con más fuerza a los del prójimo. Era Adorador Nocturno ejemplarísimo y constante. Hizo de la presencia de Jesús en la Eucaristía el eje de su vida. Su vida era austera, su oración, la Santa Misa y comunión diaria enfervorizaron su alma. En el ejercicio de su profesión, atraía a la fe a los más alejados, consiguiendo que infinidad de niños recibieran el Bautismo. Fue nombrado Presidente Diocesano de la Rama de Hombres de Acción Católica y trabajó por la fundación de Cottolengo, para atender a pobres y enfermos abandonados.

Colaboró con el P.Fontova en la creación de La Ciudad de los Muchachos, ayudándole económicamente y poniendo a su disposición todo su saber médico. Serenamente entregó su alma a Dios, el día 5 de noviembre de 1978.

Médico de Prestigio

Estudió en la única promoción que reunió a cuatro catedráticos de renombre universal: Cajal, Negrín, Marañón y Castroviejo. Obtuvo el título de Medicina y Cirugía el 25 de marzo de 1927 y más tarde el de Puericultor. Colabroró eficazmente en la transformación de la Pediatría. Perfeccionó sus estudios en París y Bruselas. Fue Presidente del Colegio de Médicos de Alicante más de tres décadas. El Consejo de Médicos de España le dedica un homenaje e inscribe su nombre en el Cuadro de Honor. Trabajó en la Beneficencia Provincial y en Maternidad. Fue director durante 33 años en Madre E Hijo, donde atendía a los trabajadores portuarios y a sus familias, en una época en que no existía la Seguridad Social. Obtiene los títulos de Inspector Municipal de Sanidad, fue Puericultor de la Escuela Nacional de Puericultura. Obtiene los certificados de perfeccionamiento en la Clínica de Niños de la Facultad de París, el de Ampliación de Estudios sobre Tocología y Ginecología. Médico de la Cruz Roja, especialidad de Niños. Publica en distintas revistas médicas trabajos importantes, destacando la aportación al estudio del Kala-Azar infantil. En Alicante, a título póstumo, es distinguido como Colegiado de Honor. Durante el ejercicio de su profesión era apreciado por todos sus colegas médicos.

Testimonios, Gracias y Favores recibidos

 Se publica una hoja informativa desde 1984 con testimonios de personas que le conocieron en vida y  gracias obtenidas por su intercesión. Son numerosos los donativos recibidos agradenciendo su mediación. Su figura es conocida en muchas ciudades españolas, Europa, Hispanoamérica, EE.UU. y Asia. En esta Hoja aparece una pequeña biografía e indicaciones para visitar su tumba. Esta se encuentra en el Cementerio de Ntra.Sra. del Remedio de Alicante.

Se han publicado dos biografías que están agotadas. La tercera edición se editará próximamente, con nuevos testimonios, gracias y favores.

En la zona donde estuvo el Dispensario Madre e Hijo (fue su director durante 33 años) y que atendía a los trabajadores portuarios y a sus familias, se encuentra un monolito con su busto, frente al Muelle de Médico Pedro Herrero. Una Calle y un Colegio llevan su nombre.

Proceso de Canonización

Pedro Herrero entregó serenamente su alma a Dios el día 5 de noviembre de 1978. En la Misa de “córpore insepulto”, el obispo de la Diócesis, que presidía el acto, al ver el clamor popular y conmovido en su interior declaró la abertura del proceso para su canonización. Empezaron a recibirse infinidad de testimonios, gracias y favores obtenidos por su intercesión. En 1984 comenzaron a editarse Hojas informativas haciendo público todo lo recibido. Se formó la comisión promotora, siendo presidente D. Luis Trinchán. En 1994 fue nombrado Postulador D.Ildefonso Cases.

 La APERTURA de este proceso tuvo lugar en la Concatedral de San Nicolás el día 30 de junio de 1997 y la CLAUSURA oficial el día 9 de junio del siguiente año, llevándose toda la documentación a Roma el 16 de junio del mismo año. El 2 de julio de 2003, el Vicepostulador D.Ildefonso Cases presenta en la Congregación para las Causas de los Santos, otro "presunto" milagro debidamente estudiado por el equipo médico de Alicante.
