El profeta Isaías, invita a beber y a alimentarse gratis, no hay que pagar nada, todo es regalo divino; Dios viene a saciar el hambre de su pueblo. El vino y la leche son el signo de la fertilidad de la tierra prometida que se le vuelve a dar a Israel después del destierro de Babilonia. El pan es fuerza cotidiana, los alimentos suculentos indican el banquete mesiánico."¿Quién nos apartará del amor de Cristo?". Y el Evangelio enseña cómo alimenta Jesús a la multitud: "Alzó los ojos al cielo y los bendijo; partió los panes y se los dio a los discípulos para que los distribuyeran a la gente".
"Esto es mi cuerpo, que se entraga por vosotros. Haced esto en memoria mía" (Lucas 22,19). La acción de Jesús se debe multiplicar, he ahí el significado de la Eucaristía.
